The Course Description of the Tennis
Tennis course is one of the compulsory courses of PE, and it is oriented to freshmen and sophomores in the Northwest A&F University. The freshmen mainly learn such skills as initial forehand and backhand, serving technique. On such basis, the sophomores further learn the course, including the tactics of singles and doubles. Students’ spirit of comity and struggle, together with their consciousness of self-expression and ability of communication, can be cultivated during the course of tennis. The tactics of tennis comprise playing forehand and backhand base line balls, blocking the balls, serving as well as singles and doubles skills.
This course is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The former primarily includes the origin and evolution of playing tennis, the functions of playing tennis, current situation of tennis course in China and abroad, scoring formula of the tennis match and judging methods during singles and doubles matches. The latter is almost composed of such skills as playing forehand and backhand base line balls, blocking the balls, serving as well as singles and doubles skills.
During the course of the tennis, the students are armed with many skills, including playing forehand and backhand base line balls, serving, blocking the balls, and the ability of using a combination of various techniques in games. While teaching, the spirits of cooperation and competition are respected to be developed, and students’ physical conditions--responsiveness, sensitiveness, flexibility, coordination, etc., will be enhanced.
